NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Scottie Williams, Augustana’s Erik Westerberg and North Central’s Tyler Rasche were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.
Williams, a junior running back from Woodridge, Ill., and Downers Grove South High School (Marketing major), ran for 235 yards on 30 carries and two rushing touchdowns during Elmhurst’s 43-36 win over Millikin on Saturday. Williams also caught three passes for 16 yards including a nine-yard touchdown reception. Williams eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season in just his seventh game and has rushed for over 120 yards in each of his last five games.
Westerberg, a sophomore linebacker from Elmhurst, Ill., and York High School (Mathematics major), recorded 14 tackles including 13 solo in a 27-24 win over North Park on Saturday. Westerberg's performance put him into the national lead (NCAA Division III) in solo tackles with an average of 8.29 per game.
Rasche, a junior punter from Moline, Ill., and Moline High School (Sport Management major), punted four times for 180 yards (45.0 average) during North Central’s 24-0 shutout of Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. Rasche and the North Central punting team allowed the Titans to gain a total of eight yards on two punt returns, one of which was fumbled and recovered by the Cardinals. Rasche also pinned the Titans on their own one-yard line with a 49-yard punt in the second quarter, and also on their own five-yard line with a career-long 63-yard punt in the third quarter.
