Wheaton's Guenard named NFCA All-American

WHEATON, Ill. – Wheaton College junior Lesley Guenard has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Team. Guenard earned her selection as a First Team outfielder in helping lead Wheaton to a record of 23-17-1 this season with a school single-season record for victories.

She is the second player ever from the Wheaton softball program to earn NFCA All-American honors, joining pitcher Amy Wallace in 1997. Guenard is the first Wheaton position player to earn the recognition.

The 2011 CCIW “Player of the Year”, Guenard posted a .424 (53-125) batting average this season, with a school-record 44 runs scored and 42 RBI. She hit five home runs with a school-record 17 doubles and added 18 stolen bases. The junior led the CCIW in runs scored and was second in the league in RBI. She also tied for the league lead in doubles, was second in the conference in stolen bases and fourth in the league in base hits.

In her three seasons with the Thunder, Guenard has posted a career batting average of .368 (136-for-370), with 99 runs scored and 77 RBI. She has hit a school-record 42 career doubles, with eight home runs and 35 stolen bases. She is third in Wheaton’s career record books in runs scored, fourth in Wheaton’s in home runs, sixth in RBI and eighth in base hits.
