NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Justin Swider and Brett Anderson, along with North Park’s Tony Kebede, were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.
Swider, a sophomore running back from Wheaton, Ill., and Wheaton North High School, (undecided major) carried the ball 12 times for 128 yards and two rushing touchdowns during a 49-15 win over Olivet on Saturday to wrap up Wheaton’s undefeated non-conference schedule. Swider also had two kick returns for 86 total yards including a long return of 55 yards. He finished with a total of 214 all-purpose yards in the win.
Anderson, a sophomore from Bloomington, Ill., and Normal Community High School, (undecided major) finished with a team-high six tackles including four solo during Wheaton’s win over Olivet on Saturday. Anderson also finished with a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Kebede, a junior kicker from Fort Wayne, Ind., and Bishop High School, (Athletic Training major) was perfect on PATs and field goals in North Park's 13-10 win over Washington University-St. Louis on Saturday, the Vikings’ third win in a row, and their first 3-0 start since 2005. Kebede made the go-ahead field goal from 26 yards out with 13 seconds left in the third quarter to seal the victory. He was 2-for-2 on field goals and 1-for-1 on PATs.
