NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Joe Furco and Wayne Tuckson, along with North Park’s Tony Kebede were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Tuesday.
Furco, a junior quarterback from Wheaton, Ill., and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School (Physical Education major), finished 24-of-31 for 358 yards and four touchdown passes in a 50-24 win over Loras on Saturday. He completed 77 percent of his passes and threw TD passes of 52, 61, 2 and 19 yards. He finished the game with an efficiency ranking of 217.01.
Tuckson, a junior linebacker from Louisville, Ky., and Dupont Manual High School (Exercise Science major), finished with 11 tackles (four solo) including 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble in the Bluejays’ win over Loras. Elmhurst allowed only 73 yards in the second half while limiting the Duhawks to only three second-half points.
Kebede, a junior kicker from Fort Wayne, Ind., and Bishop High School (Athletic Training major), was 2-for-2 on field goals with a long of 34 yards and 4-for-4 on PATs during the Vikings’ 34-9 season-opening victory over Aurora on Saturday. He also had seven kickoffs for 405 yards for an average of 57.9.
