NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Ricardo Serrano and Wheaton’s
Noah Anthony were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Soccer Players of the Week Tuesday.
Serrano, a junior midfielder from Quito, Ecuador (Marketing major), tallied two goals and an assist as the Cardinals went 3-0-0 last week. He scored the first goal in a 2-1 win against Millikin on October 17 and in a 4-1 victory over Concordia (Ill.) on October 21. He also added an assist in a 2-0 shutout of Augustana on October 20.
Anthony, a sophomore defender from St. Charles, Illinois and St. Charles North High School (Business/Economics major), helped key Wheaton's defense last week as the Thunder allowed just one goal in its two matches on the way to a 2-0-0 record. The Thunder pick up a 3-0 shutout of Aurora on October 18, followed by a 3-1 win over Illinois Wesleyan on October 20. Anthony scored the game-winning goal against the Titans to give the Thunder sole possession of first place in the CCIW.

During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
