NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Nathan Fitzenreider was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week Tuesday.

Fitzenreider, a senior from Winfield, Illinois and Wheaton North High School (Mathematics Education major), won the individual title at 141 pounds during the 49th annual North Central College Invitational on Saturday. The No.1 nationally-ranked student-athlete in his weight class, Fitzenreider went 4-0 en route to the title. He defeated Mt. St. Joseph’s Luis Godines, recording a first round pin at 2:44, followed by an 11-1 major decision over Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Garrett Whitehead. In the semifinals, Fitzenreider defeated Augustana's Hector Ruiz by decision, 5-0, before recording an early escape and hanging on for a 1-0 decision in the championship match over Wisconsin-Whitewater's Jake Fredericksen, ranked seventh at 141 pounds.

During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
