NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Joe Turek and Augustana’s Mike Trotta were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week Tuesday.

Turek, a senior infielder from Frankfort, Ill., and Lincoln-Way East High School (Physical Education major), batted .563 (9-for-16) with 10 runs, three doubles, one home run, 11 RBI and a .938 slugging percentage as the Cardinals went 3-1 last week, including a 3-0 record in the CCIW. He drew three walks and scored a run in a 12-7 loss to the University of Chicago on April 18. He then batted .643 in three road games at Millikin. He was 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI in a 10-4 game one victory over the Big Blue on April 21. In game two, he finished 2-for-3 with four runs and one RBI in a 13-10 win. He concluded the series by going 5-for-6 with three runs, one home run and seven RBI in a 13-4 win on April 22.

Trotta, a senior pitcher from Chicago, Ill., and Niles-Notre Dame High School (Business & Marketing major), tossed a nine-inning, complete game shutout of Wheaton on April 20. The Vikings won 1-0 as Trotta gave up only four hits, struck out four Wheaton batters and limited the Thunder to a .143 batting average. He also gave up only one walk.
