CCIW announces men's soccer player of the week honors for September 5

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Chad Musgraves and North Central’s Mike Tworek were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Soccer Players of the Week Wednesday.

Musgraves, a junior from Yucaipa, Calif., and Yucaipa High School (Christian Education major), tallied two goals, both game winners, and two assists as the Thunder went 2-0-0 to begin the 2012 season. He scored the first goal and assisted on the third during a 3-0 victory over Kalamazoo on Friday. He then scored the third goal, breaking a 2-2 tie, in a 4-2 win over Principia on Saturday. In that game, he assisted on the fourth goal, which was registered by teammate Josh Clark, which gave Clark a hat trick.

Tworek, a senior defender from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton North High School (Interactive Media Studies major), played all 90 minutes at the center back position during the Cardinals’ first two games of the season. Tworek helped lead North Central to a 2-0 shutout of Adrian on September 1 as the Bulldogs finished with only three shot attempts. In addition, the Cardinals picked up a 3-2 victory over Albion the day before as the Britons did not score a goal until North Central held a 3-0 lead.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
