NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
John Crain and
Nick Fridrich were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.
Crain, a junior from Dunlap, Illinois and Dunlap High School (Sociology-Criminal Justice major), won the 10,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 29:55.49 at North Central’s First Chance Invitational over the weekend. He also placed first in the 1,500-meter run, clocking a time of 3:57.28. For his performances, Crain was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week in NCAA Division III. He is currently the top ranked CCIW runner in both the 10,000 and 1,500-meter runs and is ranked first and fourth, respectively, on the national list.
Fridrich, a senior from Manteno, Illinois and Manteno High School (Sport Management major), won the javelin with a distance of 186-2 (56.74 meters) at North Central’s First Chance Invitational. His mark currently leads the conference and is a personal record by over two meters.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
