Laufenberg, Composto named CCIW Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Carthage’s Patti Laufenberg and North Central’s Elizabeth Composto were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Laufenberg, a senior from Waunakee, Wisconsin and Waunakee High School (Exercise & Sport Science major), finished second in the 400-meter dash (58.66) at North Central’s Cardinal Opener on Friday. Her time currently ranks her ninth in NCAA Division III. Laufenberg was also part of the second place 4x400-meter relay team that finished with a time of 4:04.42, which is currently ranked 11th nationally.

Composto, a junior from Bloomington, Illinois and University High School (Interactive Media Studies major), won the pole vault with a height of 3.80 meters (12-5 ½) at the Cardinal Opener. She is currently tied for second nationally and first in the CCIW.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
