NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Layten Binion was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Wednesday.
Binion, a sophomore from Mishawaka, Indiana and Mishawaka High School (Exercise Science major), won the 141-pound title at the Concordia University Wisconsin Open on November 22. He went 5-0 on the day, starting with a 9-1 major decision over UW-Parkside’s Pernevellon Sheppard, followed by a fall at 1:51 against Wabash’s Corey Hawk. Binion then beat Wartburg’s Eric Clarke by a 6-2 decision, followed by a 3-1 sudden victory over UW-Parkside’s Adam Yde. His day ended with a 9-5 decision over Wartburg’s Kaz Onoo in the championship.
