NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s
Alyssa Poremba and North Central’s
Ebony Stallworth were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Poremba, a senior from Bridgeview, Illinois and Argo High School (Accounting/Exercise Science major), finished second in the 3,000-meter run at North Central’s Chicagoland Championships on Saturday. Her time of 10:03.32 broke the school record by over 11 seconds and currently ranks first in the CCIW and 15th in NCAA Division III. Poremba’s time was also a personal record, topping her previous time by 20 seconds.
Stallworth, a junior from South Holland, Illinois and Thornwood High School (Exercise Science major), set two school records at the Chicagoland Championships on Saturday. She won the shot put with a throw of 13.82 meters (45-4 1/4), which currently ranks fifth nationally and first in the conference. Stallworth also tossed a personal best in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a throw of 15.62 meters (51-3), which ranks 27th in NCAA Division III.
The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
