North Central's Rodig named CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Josh Rodig was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Rodig, a senior from New Lenox, Illinois and Lincoln-Way Central High School (Elementary Education major), went 2-0 in helping lead the Cardinals to an 8-1 win over Aurora on March 8. He defeated all-conference performer Ricky Hernandez at No. 2 singles (2-6, 6-2, 10-7) and then teamed with Rustam Saini at No. 1 doubles to beat Brian Koski and Hernandez (9-8). The win moved the doubles pair’s record to 5-1 on the season.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
