Ferguson, Young named CCIW Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Nora Ferguson and Carthage’s Morgan Young were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Ferguson, a senior from Schaumburg, Illinois and Schaumburg High School (Entrepreneurship/Marketing major), won the 800-meter run at Wheaton’s Don Church Twilight, finishing with a lifetime best of 2:14.85. Her time currently ranks first in the CCIW and 23rd nationally.

Young, a freshman from Mahomet, Illinois and Mahomet-Seymour (Computer Science major), won the discus at the Augustana Invitational last week, finishing with a throw of 46.22 meters. This mark put Young on top of the CCIW honor roll and second on the national list. She also finished with lifetime bests in the shot put (12.45 meters) and the hammer (43.83 meters).

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
