NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Ben Williamson was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
Williamson, a freshman from Naperville, Illinois and Naperville Central High School (Physical Education major), won the 149-pound bracket at the North Central Invitational on Saturday. Seeded third, Williamson opened with an 11-3 major decision over Augustana’s Bryce Thomas before earning a 3-1 decision over Olivet’s Matt Lopez in the quarterfinals. Williamson won by fall at 2:55 against Augustana’s Matt Sears in the semifinal and then defeated No. 1 seed Adrian Collier of Dubuque 2-1 in the championship match. The 149-pound bracket also featured Wabash’s Devin Broukal, a 2015 NCAA qualifier and returning North Central Invitational champion.
