Hill, Vannucci named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Chris Hill and North Park’s Alex Vannucci were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Hill, a sophomore catcher from Bristol, Illinois and Yorkville High School (Athletic Training major), batted .667 (6-for-9) with six runs, three doubles, one home run, seven RBI, four walks and a 1.333 slugging percentage in three games for the Cardinals last week. He finished 4-for-4, including a grand slam, two doubles and five RBI in a 30-0 rout of Lawrence on March 7. Hill followed up with a 2-for-3 performance, along with a double and two RBI in a 4-3 win over Carleton. He had a run and two walks in a 5-4 win over Lawrence later in the day. Hill finished the weekend with a .769 on-base percentage.

Vannucci, a sophomore pitcher from La Grange, Illinois and Lyons Township High School (Sports Management major), picked up a 4-0 shutout victory over Haverford on March 8. He went all nine innings with nine strikeouts, no walks and he gave up just three hits as Haverford batted .100 against him.
