NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Gina Fisher and
Claire Norfleet were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
Fisher, a junior midfielder from St. Louis, Missouri and Ursuline Academy (Marketing/Management major), won her second-straight CCIW Player of the Week award after she helped lead the Cardinals to a pair of victories last week. She tallied four goals, two assists and five ground balls in a 19-5 win over Cornell on March 21, and followed with seven goals and a ground ball in a 19-1 win at Wartburg on March 22. Fisher added seven draw controls and six caused turnovers between the two games.
Norfleet, a junior midfielder from Ellisville, Missouri and Lafayette High School (Sport Management/Marketing major), had nine draw controls, a caused turnover and three ground balls for the 2-0 Cardinals last week. She had a career-high six draw controls against Cornell and helped keep the Rams scoreless for nearly 40 minutes. Against Wartburg, Norfleet and the Cardinals’ defense held the Knights to just four shots the entire game. She added four goals and four assists including three goals against Wartburg.
