NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Kiersten Tinkoff and Illinois Wesleyan’s
Mackenzie Marquis were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday.
Tinkoff, a senior infielder from Lake Barrington, Illinois and Barrington High School (Psychology major), batted .600 (9-for-15) and totaled three runs, two doubles, seven RBI and a .733 slugging percentage for the 3-1 Cardinals last week. She was 4-for-4 with three RBI in a 10-0 win against Thomas and 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI in a 9-0 win over Kalamazoo, both on March 24. Tinkoff then finished a combined 3-for-7 with two runs and two RBI in a split against St. Mary’s (Ind.) on March 28.
Marquis, a freshman pitcher from Herscher, Illinois and Herscher High School (Nursing major), finished 2-0 in five appearances with a 0.36 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched last week. She pitched a seven-inning no-hitter in a 3-0 shutout of UW-Stevens Point in game two of a double header on March 29. In game one, she pitched 3.1 innings and totaled eight strikeouts in a 4-3 win. Marquis also gave up no hits in 4.2 innings during a 10-5 win over UW-Whitewater on March 30. She currently has 11 2/3 consecutive no-hit innings.
