NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Layten Binion was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
Binion, a junior from Mishawaka, Indiana and Mishawaka High School (Exercise Science major), went 2-0 for the Cardinals at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals over the weekend in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He avenged his only loss of the season with a 4-3 victory over fifth-ranked Josh Martin of Cornell in the 141-pound match. He then defeated Baldwin Wallace’s Zach Taylor by fall just 23 seconds into the match. Binion (9-1) was ranked seventh in the most recent NWCA Division III Individual Rankings on January 4.

During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
