North Central's Sorenson wins second CCIW Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Alex Sorenson was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.
 
Sorenson, a sophomore forward from Dunlap, Illinois and Dunlap High School, helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week including a win over second-ranked Elmhurst. He scored 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting from the field, pulled down 13 rebounds and added three blocks in a 97-68 win over Carthage on January 20. He followed with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, nine rebounds and four blocks in beating the Bluejays 80-62 on January 23. The win was the Cardinals’ third against a top 10-ranked opponent this season.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
