NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Jessica DeJong and Wheaton’s
Mary Pettit were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.
DeJong, a senior midfielder from Lisle, Illinois and Glenbard East High School (Sport Management major), scored her team’s only goal last week in a 1-0 shutout of Carthage on October 1. She tallied an unassisted goal, her first of the season, in the 68th minute against the Lady Reds to help the Cardinals win their CCIW opener.
Pettit, a senior defender from Hoffman Estates, Illinois and Hoffman Estates High School (Mathematics & Education major), anchored a Wheaton defense that recorded two road shutouts last week. The Thunder defense held Calvin to just four shots on goal in a 1-0 shutout on September 27. Wheaton then held North Park to no shots on goal in a 4-0 shutout on October 1. Pettit also tallied her second goal of the year against the Vikings.
