NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Layten Binion was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
Binion, a senior from Mishawaka, Indiana and Mishawaka High School (Exercise Science major), won the 141-pound weight class at the Concordia-Wisconsin Open on Saturday. He opened with a 7-3 decision over UW-Steven’s Point’s Frank Lor, followed by back-to-back decisions over Chicago’s Grant Morrison and UW-Madison’s Patrick Spray. He then topped Elmhurst’s Robbie Hauser 7-6 in the championship match. Earlier in the week, Binion defeated Augustana’s Brendan Gould 3-1 in a dual match at 141 pounds.

During the 2015-16 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,600 academic all-conference recipients, 14 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 36 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and over 100 all-Americans.
