NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Wilbur Williams was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Williams, a freshman from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Saint Peter & Paul (Computer Science major), went 3-0 in the Cardinals’ first three matches of their spring trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Playing in the No. 4 singles slot, he defeated Heidelberg’s Austin Buckhalter (6-0, 6-0) on March 18, followed by wins over Greenville (6-4, 6-3) and Loras’ Riley Michel (6-0, 6-1) on March 21.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
