North Central sweeps CCIW Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Tim Vazquez and Luke Winder were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Vazquez, a senior from Skokie, Illinois and Niles North High School (Exercise Science major), placed third in the 5,000-meter run at the UW-Platteville Invitational over the weekend. His time of 14:18.28 ranks first in the CCIW and third on the NCAA Division III national list.
 
Winder, a sophomore from Joliet, Illinois and Plainfield Central High School (Physical Education/Secondary Education major), won the pole vault at Wheaton’s Don Church Invitational, tying the school outdoor record in the process. His mark of 5.50 meters (18-0 1/12) ranks him first in both the CCIW and in Division III.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
