North Central's Costanzo, Carthage's Slowek named CCIW Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Megan Costanzo and Carthage’s Elanta Slowek were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Costanzo, a senior from Huntington Beach, California and Somonauk (Ill.) High School (Psychology major), finished with a school record time of 35:25.78 in the 10,000-meter run at the Mount Sac Relays on Thursday in Cerritos, California. She broke the previous record of 35:28.44 set by 2011 graduate Amanda Laesch. Costanzo’s time is ranked first in both the CCIW and on the NCAA Division III national list.
 
Slowek, a sophomore from Park Ridge, Illinois and Maine East High School (Marketing major), won three events at Wheaton’s Don Church Invitational on Saturday. She won the high jump with a personal best 6.69 meters (5-6 ½), the discus with a distance of 46.33 meters (152-0) and the javelin with a distance of 37.00 meters (121-5). She currently holds the top conference marks in the high jump and discus and has the second-highest rated discus mark in the country. This was Slowek's second-straight CCIW Field Athlete of the Week honor.
