NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan’s
Flower Edington and North Central’s
Allyson Viederis were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.
Edington, a sophomore forward from Wilmette, Illinois and New Trier Township High School, tallied three goals for the 2-0-0 Titans last week. She scored off an assist from Rachel Schneider in the 81st minute of a 5-1 win over North Park on October 3. Edington followed with both Titan goals in a 2-1 win over Elmhurst on October 7. She netted an unassisted goal in the 56th minute and scored the game winner in the 97th minute via a header off a free kick from teammate Rachel Westerkamp.
Viederis, a freshman midfielder from Rockford, Illinois and Rockford Boylan Catholic High School (Athletic Training major), helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-1 overtime victory at Millikin on October 7. The Big Blue were held to just four shots (three on goal) in the contest. Viederis also added four shots.
