North Central's Patel wins third CCIW Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Dhruvil Patel claimed his third College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday.
 
Patel, a junior from Skokie, Illinois and Niles North High School (Accounting major), finished second out of 354 runners at Principia’s Cowbell Classic on Saturday, clocking a time of 24:41.97. The No. 1-ranked Cardinals won the event with 47 points, topping second-ranked SUNY Geneseo, which finished with 150 points. Patel finished only one second behind the individual champion Isaac Garcia-Cassani of SUNY Geneseo (24:41.02). Saturday’s meet served as the “Pre-Nationals” event as Principia will host the NCAA Division III Championship on November 18.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
