NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Broc Rutter, Illinois Wesleyan's Jordan Hassan and Carthage’s Tommy Bazarek were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.
 
Rutter, a sophomore quarterback from Naperville, Illinois and Neuqua Valley High School (Marketing major), was 20-of-29 for 290 yards and two touchdown passes in a 43-24 win over Washington-St. Louis on Saturday. He guided the Cardinals’ offense to a second-straight 500-yard outing (501 total yards) as they maintained possession for 38:27. Rutter moved into fourth place in North Central history in career passing yards (4,344).
 
Hassan, a senior linebacker from Wheaton, Illinois and Glenbard West High School (Marketing major), helped lead the Titans to a 14-10 win against nationally-ranked Wheaton on Saturday as he totaled 14 tackles (six solo), three tackles-for-loss and a quarterback sack of minus 12 yards. The win was Illinois Wesleyan’s second against a ranked opponent, including a week one victory over UW-Whitewater, which was ranked third at the time. The Thunder came into Saturday’s contest ranked fifth.
 
Bazarek, a junior punt returner from Park Ridge, Illinois and Maine South High School (Criminal Justice and Environmental Science major), had a 57-yard punt return for a touchdown during the Red Men’s 55-20 win over Carroll on Saturday. He finished the game with four punt returns for 89 yards and his 22.25 yards per punt return was a season best. Bazarek added 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns, giving him 190 all-purpose yards against the Pioneers.
