NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s A.J. Compton and North Central’s Evan Blunk were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Compton, a senior outfielder from Mount Prospect, Illinois and Prospect High School (Sports Management major), batted .464 (13-for-28) with nine runs, three doubles, two home runs, six RBI and a .786 slugging percentage for the 3-3 Bluejays last week. He hit safely in all six games for Elmhurst last week and was 3-for-3 on stolen bases. Compton recorded two hits in each game against Millikin on Saturday, and on Sunday, he finished 4-for-6 with four runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and two homers in game one against Carroll. He finished the doubleheader against Carroll by going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
Blunk, a senior pitcher from Algonquin, Illinois and Jacobs High School (Management major), was 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA and 11 strikeouts for the Cardinals last week. He pitched a complete-game against Millikin on Sunday as he gave up no earned runs, scattered five hits and struck out seven batters in 9.0 innings of a 3-1 win. He pitched the first five innings of a 7-5 win over Rockford last Tuesday as he gave up one earned run and struck out four batters.
