Augustana set to host 2017 CCIW Men's Tennis Championship May 4-6

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana College will host the 2017 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Championship May 4-6.
 
Thursday’s matches will feature No. 3 seed Millikin vs. No. 6 North Central, No. 2 Augustana vs. No. 7 Elmhurst, No. 4 Carthage vs. No. 5 Carroll and No. 1 Wheaton vs. No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan in the first round, followed by two backdraw matches.
 
Friday’s schedule includes the fifth and seventh place matches, followed by the main draw semifinal matches. The weekend concludes on Saturday with the third place and championship matches.
 
Matches will be played at Augustana’s tennis courts, but in the event of bad weather, matches will be played at the Quad City Tennis Club, located at 1522 47th Avenue in Moline, Illinois.
 
Carthage enters this weekend as the two-time defending champion, while Wheaton leads with the most CCIW titles at 24, the last coming in 2012.
 
Saturday’s champion will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship. The full bracket will be announced on Monday, May 8 via NCAA.com.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL).
