North Central's Hird named CCIW Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Zach Hird was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week on September 12.
 
Hird, a junior from Rock Island, Illinois and Alleman High School (Accounting major), was the Cardinals’ top finisher at the Illinois State Invitational on Friday, September 8. Hird finished second overall (25:04.2), just 1.5 seconds behind the winner Alex Baker from Loyola (Ill.). North Central dominated the all-NCAA Division I field as six Cardinal runners finished in the top 10, leading to a 44-point win over second place Illinois State.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
