NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Spencer Peterson, North Central’s Tommy Sora and Augustana’s Jacob Stytz were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on September 18.
 
Peterson, a sophomore quarterback from Grand Rapids, Michigan and Northpointe Christian (Business/Economics major), played a part in four of Wheaton’s five touchdowns in a 37-14 win over Carthage on Saturday. He finished with 16 carries for 141 yards and three rushing touchdowns and also passed for a four-yard score. Peterson’s 39-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, which gave the Thunder a 9-0 lead, was the first touchdown scored against Carthage’s defense this year. The Red Men came into the game as Division III’s top-rated scoring defense and was ranked 14th in rush defense at 36 yards per game.
 
Sora, a senior from Morton Grove, Illinois and Notre Dame High School (Finance/Economics/Management major), led North Central with nine tackles (seven solo) in a 26-13 win over 16th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. He had an interception from the North Central 29-yard line in the third quarter, which he returned 31 yards to midfield. The interception came on Illinois Wesleyan’s final offensive drive inside Cardinal territory as the game was tied 13-13 at the time. North Central scored the go-ahead touchdown on the ensuing possession.
 
Stytz, a senior kicker from Channahon, Illinois and Minooka High School (Pre-medicine major), tied an Augustana school record with four field goals in the Vikings’ 28-25 loss to Carroll on Saturday. He was 4-for-4 including distances of 52, 32, 23 and 45 yards and was 1-for-1 on PATs. Stytz is 6-for-6 on field goals this season and has made 67-straight extra points. He is third on the school's all-time list in terms of career field goals with 21.
