NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Carthage’s
Jamel Davis, North Central’s
Pat Cravens and Wheaton’s
Stefan Knoerr were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.
Davis, a sophomore running back and Naples, Florida and Barron G. Collier High School (Business major), rushed for a career-high 177 yards on 20 carries in helping lead the Red Men to a 55-14 win at Augustana on Saturday. He also tied a career high with three rushing touchdowns and he was never tackled for a loss of yardage. As a team, Carthage rushed for a season-high 294 yards.
Cravens, a senior defensive back from Chicago, Illinois and Notre Dame High School (Management major), totaled a game-high 12 tackles (9 solo) as the Cardinals picked up a 51-21 victory at Millikin on Saturday. He also collected his first interception of the year (seventh of his career) in the second quarter, while his 12 tackles were one short of a career game high.
Knoerr, a senior kicker from Arvada, Colorado (Engineering major), finished a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts during the Thunder’s 40-15 win at Elmhurst on Saturday. His first kick (23 yards) gave Wheaton its first lead at 10-8, while his next three kicks of 22, 31 and 25 yards built the Thunder lead to 19-8 with 8:04 left in the third quarter.
