North Central relay team, Wheaton's Gray named CCIW Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Distance Medley Relay team, along with Wheaton’s Collin Gray were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
 
The relay team of Chris Buechner (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West/Social Science, History major), Peyton Piron (Batavia, Ill./H.S./Actuarial Science), Michael Anderson (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect/Exercise Science) and Zach Hird (Rock Island, Ill./Alleman) took first at the UW-Whitewater Squig Converse Invitational on Friday. The team finished with a time of 10:12.31 and the converted time of 10:04.11 ranks first in both the CCIW and on the NCAA Division III national list.
 
Gray, a senior from Boca Raton, Florida and Boca Raton Christian (Business major), won the high jump at Carthage’s Tadd Metzger Invitational on Saturday. He finished with a height of 2.10 meters, which was a personal and school record. His jump currently ranks first in the CCIW and third on the national list.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
