NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s 4x400-meter relay team, along with Augustana’s
Ethan Ehlers were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
The Cardinal relay team of
Daniel Spaccapaniccia (Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville Central/Exercise Science),
Maceo Findlay (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka/Physics),
Ben Nordman (Belvidere, Ill./North/Sport Management) and
Peyton Piron (Batavia, Ill./H.S./Actuarial Science) won with a time of 3:19.23 during North Central’s Pat Heenan Invitational on Saturday. This time ranks first in the CCIW and the converted time of 3:16.11 ranks second on the NCAA Division III national list.
Ehlers, a senior from Kenosha, Wisconsin and St. Joseph High School (Business Management & Engineering major), set a new school record by winning the shot put at Grinnell's Darren Young Invitational on Saturday. His throw of 55-4 1/4 (16.87 meters) ranks first in the CCIW and third nationally. Ehlers’ throw broke the record of 54-2 1/2 set by five-time all-American David Dempsey in 2000.
