2018 CCIW Swimming Championships to be held February 15-17 at Pleasant Prairie RecPlex

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – For the fifth-straight season, College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) programs will travel to Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex for the 2018 CCIW Swimming Championships to be held this Thursday through Saturday.
 
The preliminary events begin at 10:30 a.m. each day, followed by the finals at 6 p.m. Additionally, ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday to honor and recognize senior student-athletes for their accomplishments.

The Wheaton women enter the 2018 championships as the 20-time defending champion dating back to 1998. The Thunder have won 25 titles overall under the direction of former head coach Jon Lederhouse, who retired following the end of last season. Jacob and Meghan Ayers took over the men’s & women’s programs, respectively, this season.
 
On the men’s side, Carthage won its first conference title since 2012 and seventh in program history last season. It was also the Red Men’s first CCIW title under head coach Seth Weidmann, who took over the program from six-time conference champion Greg Earhart following the 2013-14 season. Wheaton leads with 27 men’s titles, including 24 under the direction of Lederhouse.
 
Last Saturday, CCIW teams competed in the diving portion of the conference championship at Illinois Wesleyan’s Fort Natatorium as four new conference records were established. Carroll freshman Ally Osell (Oak Creek, Wis./H.S.) claimed titles in both the women’s one-meter (444.65) and three-meter (467.35) events, while on the men’s side, Carthage sophomore Connor Pierson (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) won the one-meter (463.75), while teammate Aaron San Juan (Novi, Mich./Walled Lake Western) won the three-meter (481.90).
 
Scores from Saturday’s diving event will be incorporated into the swimming portion of this week’s CCIW Championships.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
