NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana’s Ryan Kairis and North Central’s Charlie Klemm were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Kairis, a junior outfielder from Chicago and Marist High School (English & Creative Writing major), batted .458 (11-for-24) with two runs, four doubles, four RBIs and a .625 slugging percentage for the Vikings last week. He finished with a hit in all five games played including three multi-hit games. Kairis was 4-for-6 with one run, two doubles and one RBI in a 15-9 loss to North Central on April 17. He was 1-for-5 in a 10-4 loss to Elmhurst on April 19, and went a combined 3-for-8 with one double and three RBIs in a double header split at Illinois Wesleyan on April 21. Kairis finished the week going 3-for-5 with one run, one double and one RBI in a 7-4 win over Illinois Wesleyan on April 22.
 
Klemm, a freshman pitcher from Darien, Illinois and Hinsdale South High School (Marketing major), tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win at Carthage on April 21. He struck out five batters and walked just one to move to 4-1 on the season. The Red Men entered the game ranked 19th in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Poll on April 17.
