North Central's Patel, Augustana's Ehlers named CCIW Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Dhruvil Patel and Augustana’s Ethan Ehlers were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Patel, a junior from Skokie, Illinois and Niles North High School (Accounting major), won the 10,000-meter run at the Washington University Invitational on Friday in St. Louis. His time of 29:52.83 currently ranks first in both the CCIW and on the NCAA Division III national list posted on TFRRS.org. Patel is coming off two 2018 indoor all-America honors including a national title in the 5,000-meter run and a fourth place finish in the 3,000-meter run.
 
Ehlers, a senior from Kenosha, Wisconsin and St. Joseph High School (Engineering & Business Management major), won the shot put at Augustana’s 78th annual Viking Olympics on Thursday. His throw of 55-10 ½ (17.03 meters) was a school record and is ranked first in the CCIW and 14th on the Division III national list. Ehlers also won the discus with a throw of 155-2 (47.30 meters). Ehlers won all-America honors with an eighth place finish in the shot put at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championship.
