NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Justin Rios and Charlie Klemm were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Rios, a sophomore outfielder from Lemont, Illinois and St. Laurence High School, batted .571 (8-for-14) with five runs, seven RBI, a triple, home run and a .929 slugging percentage for the 3-0 Cardinals last week. He was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI in a 12-2 win over Blackburn in the season opener on Friday. Rios then went 4-for-6 with a run, triple and two RBI in a 16-1 victory over Wilmington on Saturday. He ended the weekend by going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI and a three-run home run during a 10-6 win over UW-Stout on Sunday. Rios' home run in the bottom of the eighth against UW-Stout was the first of his career.

Klemm, a junior pitcher from Darien, Illinois and Hinsdale South High School, was the winning pitcher against Wilmington on Saturday. He gave up no hits, struck out seven batter and only two walks in six innings of work. Klemm was pulled after six innings and a no-hitter intact due to early season pitch counts.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
