North Central wins 2008 CCIW Softball Tournament Title

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – North Central captured its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Tournament title since 2005 Saturday, defeating Augustana 11-10 in the sixth and final game of the weekend tournament.

With the win, North Central earns the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regional. It was the sixth time in school history that the Cardinals have won a softball tournament title. Regular season champion Illinois Wesleyan (29-9, 12-2) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Regional, their second in a row.

North Central , which finishes the regular season with an overall record of 29-10, placed second in the CCIW standings during the regular season, finishing with a conference record of 9-5.
