CCIW Basketball
d3hoops.com announces 2009 all-region men's & Women's basketball teams
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) earned significant representation on the D3Hoops.com All-Region men’s & women’s basketball teams, announced Tuesday.
The men’s team featured five all-region members and two specialty award winners. The women’s team had four all-region members and one specialty award winner as well as a coach of the year honor.
Wheaton’s Kent Raymond (Cumberland, Ind./New Palestine) was named the Midwest Region Player of the Year for the third season in a row while his teammate, freshman Tim McCrary (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), was named the Midwest Region Rookie of the Year.
Joining Raymond on the Midwest Region First Team was Carthage’s Steve Djurickovic (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Bradford) and Elmhurst’s Brent Ruch (Farmer City, Ill./ Blue Ridge). Wheaton’s Andy Wiele (St. Louis, Mo./Westminster Christian) was named to the second team and North Central’s Chris Drennan (Bloomington, Ill./ Normal) was named to the third team.
On the women’s side, Illinois Wesleyan’s Christina Solari (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) earned Central Region Player of the Year honors while Titans’ head coach Mia Smith was named the Central Region Coach of the Year.
Wheaton’s Kathleen Fidelia ( Arden, N.C./Carolina Day School) joined Solari on the Central Region First Team. Illinois Wesleyan’s Claire Sheehan (St. Charles, Ill./East) earned second team honors while Elmhurst’s Lyndsie Long (Sugar Grove, Ill.,/Kaneland) was named to the third team.
