NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage senior guard Steve Djurickovic was named the DIII News Preseason Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Djurickovic, a native of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and a graduate of Kenosha-Bradford High School, averaged 24.4 points and 7.2 assists per game last season, helping to lead the Red Men to the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) regular season and tournament titles.
He was also named the CCIW's Fred Young Most Outstanding Player, and was a first team all-American and player of the year by D3Hoops.com. Additionally, Djurickovic was a first-team all-America selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and was the Midwest Region Player of the Year by both D3Hoops.com and the NABC.
Djurickovic is an Exercise & Sport Science major.
