North Central's Kmiec named CCIW Men's Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Vince Kmiec was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Kmiec, a junior guard/forward from Palos Park, Illinois and Sandburg High School (Physical Education major), helped lead the No. 1-ranked Cardinals to a pair of CCIW wins last week and extended his team’s record to 13-0 to start the season. He finished with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 71-51 win over Elmhurst on January 2 to open conference play. He followed that up with 20 points, six rebounds and three steals in a 69-55 win over then eighth-ranked Wheaton on January 5. His 20 points against the Thunder tied a career-high.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
