NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s
Katie McDaniels was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
McDaniels, a freshman guard from Shoreview, Minnesota and Mounds View High School, was named to the all-tournament team at Wheaton’s Beth Baker Classic over the weekend. In just her fifth career game, she scored 26 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in a 74-51 win against St. Mary’s (Ind.) on November 23. She just missed a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds in a 95-54 win against Whittier on November 22. McDaniels also had 12 points in a 74-46 road victory at Aurora on November 19.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
