Wheaton sweeps CCIW Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Marshall Hollingsworth and Ben Bakke were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Hollingsworth, a senior forward from Libertyville, Illinois and Libertyville High School (Business/Economics major), totaled three goals and two assists as the Thunder went 2-0-0 against CCIW competition last week. He scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 72nd minute, of a 4-1 win against 18th-ranked Carthage on October 14. Hollingsworth also converted a penalty kick goal and added an assist on Stephen Golz’ goal in the 50th minute of a 4-0 shutout against Illinois Wesleyan on October 17.
 
Bakke, a sophomore defender from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Minnehaha Academy (Business/Economics major), aided the Thunder defense in their two CCIW wins last week. Carthage was held to just one goal and four shots on goal in the Wheaton win on October 14. The Thunder tallied their sixth shutout of the season against Illinois Wesleyan on October 17 as Bakke also assisted on Stephen Golz first goal of the match in the 48th minute.
