NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana’s Sam Frasco, Carthage’s K.J. Simpson and North Central’s Al Willett were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.
 
Frasco, a senior quarterback from Mt. Prospect, Illinois and Prospect High School (Business Marketing & Finance major), accounted for 367 yards of total offense during Augustana’s 45-7 win at North Park on Saturday. He rushed for 189 yards on 15 carries and scored five touchdowns on runs of five, 20, 35, 11 and 23 yards. He also completed 13-of-15 passes for 178 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. This is Frasco’s third player of the week honor this season.
 
Simpson, a junior linebacker from Blue Island, Illinois and Eisenhower High School (Exercise & Sport Science major), totaled seven tackles (six solo), one sack for a loss of 11 yards and a forced fumble during the Red Men’s 36-17 win over Millikin on Saturday. With Carthage down 17-16, Simpson made two tackles on the Big Blue’s ensuing possession including a sack and forced fumble (the Red Men scored on their next possession). Simpson helped a defense that allowed only seven yards of offense in the second half.
 
Willett, a senior linebacker from Hampshire, Illinois and Burlington Central High School (Marketing/Management major), scored North Central’s second special-teams touchdown of the year during the Cardinals’ 33-15 win at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. He recovered a fumbled punt snap and returned it five yards for a touchdown and also tallied three solo special-teams tackles in the win.
