Elmhurst's Santi named CCIW Wrestler of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Blake Santi was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Santi, a senior from Roselle, Illinois and Lake Park High School (Accounting major), won the 149-pound title at the Concordia (Wis.) Open on Saturday. He posted a perfect 5-0 record, opening with a 16-1 technical fall over Dubuque’s Ethan Kleitsch. He then pinned Harper’s Howie Olson at 1:01, followed by a 4-1 decision over Wabash’s Devin Broukal. Santi beat Wartburg’s Mark Pinero 6-4 in the semifinals, and then won the championship with an 8-7 decision over UW-Parkside’s Frank Yatonni.

During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
