NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Josh Williams and Sean Wetherell, along with North Central’s Dom Zavaglia were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.
 
Williams, a senior running back from Woodridge, Illinois and Downers Grove South High School (Criminal Justice major), helped lead the Bluejays to a 31-12 victory at Simpson on Saturday that moved their record to 3-0 on the season. He rushed for 122 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns and caught one pass for 15 yards in the win. Williams has rushed for over a hundred yards in all three games and is averaging 183.0 yards rushing per game, the fourth-highest total in NCAA Division III.
 
Wetherell, a junior safety from Rock Island, Illinois and Alleman High School (Marketing major), totaled seven tackles (four solo), one interception and one pass breakup in the Bluejays’ win at Simpson. He scored the first points of the game on a 19-yard interception return for a touchdown and was also the team’s co-leader in tackles. Elmhurst limited Simpson to only 275 yards of offense and forced three turnovers while also holding the Storm to 0-for-5 on fourth down attempts.
 
Zavaglia, a junior kicker/punter from Maryville, Illinois and Collinsville High School (Accounting/Management major), posted his best single-game punting average and his longest single punt during the Cardinals’ 50-49 loss to Wesley on Saturday. He punted seven times for 322 yards (46.0 average) with a long of 54 yards as the Cardinals allowed only 21 punt return yards on four attempts. Zavaglia was also 7-for-7 on PATs.
