NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana’s
Isaac Smith and Wheaton’s
Sola Olateju were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Smith, a senior from Marion, Iowa and Marion High School (Chemistry major), won the 400-meter dash (48.93) and placed third in the 200-meter dash (22.42) during Grinnell’s Darren Young Classic on Saturday. His time in the 400 is ranked first in the CCIW and seventh on the NCAA Division III national list via TFRRS.org, while his time in the 200 is also first in the CCIW and 26th nationally. This was Smith’s second CCIW Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season.
Olateju, a junior from Fridley, Minnesota and Mounds View High School (Economics major), finished fifth and set a new school record in the indoor triple jump with a leap of 47-2 ¼ (14.38 meters) during North Central’s Chicagoland Championship on Saturday. His distance on Saturday currently ranks first in the CCIW and ninth nationally.
