Illinois Wesleyan's Bauer, North Central's Warkenthien, WashU's Tague named CCIW Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan's Brandon Bauer, North Central's DJ Warkenthien and Washington University in St. Louis' (WashU) Tim Tague were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.

Bauer, a junior quarterback from Frankfort, Illinois and Lincoln-Way East High School (Accounting major), was 26-of-32 for 254 yards one touchdown pass and three rushing touchdowns in a 27-21 win at WashU on Saturday. His 81.3 percent accuracy rating is the eighth-best performance in an Illinois Wesleyan single game, while his three rushing touchdowns gives him 16 for his career, tying for 10th-most in school history.

Warkenthien, a senior linebacker from Naperville, Illinois and Neuqua Valley High School (Marketing major), led the Cardinals with nine tackles (eight solo) during a 26-14 win at Carthage on Saturday. He posted a season-high with four tackles-for-loss and also made stops on third downs that halted three Red Men offensive drives in the second half.

Tague, a sophomore punter/quarterback from Orinda, California and Miramonte High Schools (Systems Science & Engineering major), totaled six punts for 218 yards (36.3 average) against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. Tague and the Bears' punt team did not allow one return yard and he had a career-long 47-yard punt in the first quarter. Tague filled in for all-American punter Johnny Davidson, who also serves as the team's starting quarterback. Davidson left the game following a first quarter sack, but returned at quarterback later in the game, while Tague took over the punting duties the rest of the way.
